A staple for locals in the Bethany Beach area, Bluecoast was named one of the Top 10 Destination Restaurants in the US by Attache Magazine. Off the Hook (3.7 miles)
This hotspot for the seasonal crowd is also a favorite casual date spot for locals. The popular Farm to Table trend is brought to life here with their sumptuous menu full of fresh seafood and classic American dishes. Sedona (4.6 miles)
For over 26 years Sedona has offered the Bethany Beach community creative and unique cuisine with seasonal ingredients. If you’re short on time it’s a great place to stop in for tapas and happy hour, or satisfy your sweet tooth with their homemade dessert. With oceanfront dining and a fun name, Mangos is an excellent place for the whole family to grab a bite. In what’s possibly the most premier location in town, this boardwalk eatery boasts a family friendly menu as well as many tropical dishes inspired by the local owners’ travels to the Bahamas and Jamaica. DiFebo’s (4.2 miles)
For a taste of Southern Italy on the East Coast, look no further than DiFebo’s Modern Italian Grill, where guests are treated as part of the family. A father-son team lead the staff and personally prepare all the food, sharing tried and true family recipes with their patrons. You didn’t think we forgot about ice cream, did you? We can’t think of a better treat on a hot summer day than a classic hand-dipped ice cream cone. This one is a no-brainer, but no list of Bethany’s finest is complete without it. Fenwick Island Lighthouse (9.6 miles)
The Fenwick Island Lighthouse is a great place to soak in the history of the surrounding area. This lighthouse has guided vessels into Delaware since 1858. Officially decommissioned in 1978, a symbolic light now burns in the 87’ tower, which is lovingly cared for by the New Friends of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse. Visitors can explore the landmark’s historic museum and snap an Instagram-worthy photo in front of the brick tower. The Freeman Stage at Bayside (6.7 miles)
If you’re looking for a fun spot to entertain the whole group, The Freeman Stage at Bayside fits the bill. Bethany Beach Trolley (4.8 miles)
Who doesn’t want to ride a beach trolley? From Memorial Day weekend through September, grab the grandkids and hop on this adorable trolley that stops throughout Bethany Beach. Track the trolley online, then flag it down from anywhere along its route. It’s a great way to explore the beauty of Bethany or get from one side of the town to the other for the bargain price of $0.25 (not a typo – it’s really that cheap!). DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum (9.9 miles)
If you watched Titanic for its historical significance and not just for the Jack and Rose love story, you’ll probably enjoy the DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum. The museum is host to more than 10,000 pieces of history from local and worldwide shipwrecks. Visitors can stroll through the hands-on exhibits on their own or enjoy a guided tour. This one is a little farther away than the rest, but so worth the drive if you’re a wine lover. Delaware’s first and only award-winning winery is located on a quiet country road and is a nice change of pace from the bustling boardwalk area. The winery offers self-guided tours and tastings as well as guided group tours and educational seminars. Don’t forget to buy a bottle of your favorite wine before you leave! For a taste of the local delicacies of Bethany Bach, visit the community Farmer’s Market on Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue. If the name didn’t entice you, we’re not sure what will. This fun clothing store features labels like Laurel Burch, Fiddlesticks, Jeff Lieb and Virginia Nin. Unique handbags and reasonably priced accessories are best sellers here. The CrazyLadyz website is full of inventory you can shop online and have shipped to your home or pick-up in store.
Gallery One (2.9 miles)
To get a taste of the local art scene, be sure to check out Galley One, owned by a group of fifteen local artists from the Delaware/Maryland shore area. You’ll get to see how each artist has a different interpretation of the local landscapes and take one of them home if you fall in love! A self-proclaimed “Coastal General Store” – this is where the cool kids hang out. The latest fashions are displayed next to organic grooming and skincare products. Home goods, gourmet food, fine paper goods, and some locally refinished furniture all call S.A.L.T. home. They really do have a little bit of everything, including a large selection of new and used vinyl because, why not? Bethany Surf Shop (3.5 miles)
What’s a beach town without a surf shop? Whether you’re looking to buy or rent, Bethany Surf Shop has great deals on a huge selection of surfboards, body boards, skim boards, paddleboards and more. Spend a day on the water learning about the creatures that call the bay their home. If you’re lucky, you might get to hold live crabs and starfish. You’ll also spot pelicans, seagulls, terns, osprey, and if you’re extra fortunate, a pod of dolphins. Or maybe you’d rather spend your time on the three-hour fishing trip with friends. Don’t worry, you don’t need a fishing license and bait and tackle is included. They thought of everything.
